Welcome to A Chica’s World! I’m Daisy Cabrera, and I created this space to connect with you and share life experiences, resources, secrets and plenty of consejitos.

Let’s chat about all those things that we love, admire, desire – things that make up OUR world: traveling the globe, having fun with beauty and style trends, learning wellness tips, exploring arts & culture, enhancing our career, discovering music & entertainment, indulging in food & drink, and so much more.

Like you, I celebrate the two cultures that are deeply woven into our lifestyle. As a proud Latina and proud American, embracing each culture just feels fluid, innate, natural, essential. I grew up speaking Spanish at home, and English in school. The Boogeyman and El Cuco both terrorized my childhood. I watched MTV during the day, and novelas at night. Latin jazz and house music are on heavy rotate in my playlist. The power of Nina Simone and La Lupe speak to my soul. There’s nothing more delicious than a plate of paella negra, or a greasy slice of pizza. I devour books, especially those written by Latina authors. And, I’m all about Zumba and meditation.

On the professional side – From being a make-up artist to hosting parties, I’ve moonlighted quite a bit before finding my career in public relations. Over the last two decades, I’ve helped blue chip brands engage with Hispanic consumers, influencers, celebrities, and media. It’s been so rewarding to expand my expertise through my work with industry leaders, from British Airways, VH1, CoverGirl, Heineken, Marshalls, and YellowTail wine to JPMorgan Chase, Strayer University, Tyson Foods, Johnson & Johnson, Splenda and countless others. While hustling hard to establish my consultancy, I’ve won a few multicultural awards and founded the HPRA Miami chapter along the way. This Chica has been busy!

On the personal front – this Brooklyn girl now lives in South Beach. I so miss the vibrant city, but the ocean feels like home. For years, I looked for love in all the wrong places, read stacks of self-help books, tried online and speed dating, felt discouraged at times, and learned many valuable lessons along the way. And then, I met my soul mate. The universe delivers when you least expect it. Fast forward, we eloped at the age of 45. Now, some may think that is late in life but I happen to think that life is long. I wouldn’t want to spend it with anyone else.

Through this space, I promise to try my best to bring it. To empower you. To cheer you on. To keep it real. To gain your trust. To make you smile. To inspire you.
